[english]First I want to say hi, to every one here to all student , especilaly to Mr. Moslim Kumbaz a teacher of English , and I want to add I admire him! for the greatest special his site , I great him for his knowledges in his specialized job the English subject , whatever I enjoy what he write , also I have to say the prouduct of students are in a high level and has no fault , however , and by the way I have to interoduce my self to the forum .
I am mohammad Ahmad an a medical assist laboratory technician I teach my student the laboratory work in biology and physiology as a technician of vacobulary experaments of the suggesing text , but I love the English language from my nails still smooth , and now I study the language as a a student in the Art collage - transalation department - evening courses . so I want to comunicate here in this site because I find the confidence and the knowledge and the skill, agin I have to thank you and to say that Iwas to undergoe your betterness and kindness .
My question
Is it true or not?
One of them said that in the previous time some of Arabic villagers had to struggle between themselves , and to solve the problem they had gone to the American , and one of American person gathered them and asked “who is the big dog?
They understood he said a bad word and that is a type of humiliation , and they become angry and hot- tempered , the American person was astonished and became more surprising and had to wonder if he did such mistake! And as soon as he asked to bring an translator and told him that he mean by the ( big dog ) the largest one or the eldest one of them that’s in their intention as American .
Also when I am heard the sentence in the first time I became more anger and furious , I imagine that is a kind of humiliation to Arabic nation , and I guessed they export like those idioms to humiliate the Arab , now I have to ask, are you heard by such type of idioms ?--- MMA.[/english][/font]

In fact, I have never ever heard of this idiom.

But I want to tell you something and please accept it as an advise:
Your English is very poor brother. try to improve it.

I have heard this idiom for the first time by you, but it could be possible that he meant what he said .

welcome in this forum
as for your question, i don't think there is something like" a big bog" in English
and if there is, it will not be used this way for the word "dog" has very bad connotations even for Americans
