قصة "قلب الظلام" تشبه الى حد كبير قصة " القاعدة الامامية للرقي تدور احداث القصة حول مارلو الذي يسافر الى افريقيا للعمل في شركة لتجارة العاج ويتفاجا كيف يتعامل الانكليز مع الاناس المحليين القصة بكامها تدور حول الرحلة وللغة مفهومة وبسيطة مع وجود الكثير من .... الرموز وصور كثيرة في القصة

بانسبة للدكتور " محمد مزعل " فهو يتقبل الافكار الجديدة والموجودة في المحاضرات ايضا

! يروي (مارلو) لرفاقه عن رحتله الى افريقية وكيف قام بعمل مجهود كبير للحصول على هذا العمل
" يتحدث عن رحلته عندما كان فيما هو ورفاقه يبحرون في سفينة نيلي في نهر التايمز"
فبدا بسرد ماذا حدث اثناء توظيفه وبمن التقا والطبيب الذي فحصه والمراتان في المبنى عندما اجتزته
واحدة منهما الى المدير وبقيت الثانية تتفحصه بعد ان وصل الى الادارة الرئيسية والتقا بالمدير وشاهد الناس اسود يقتلون
ويعاملون معاملة قاسية............. بعد ذلك تم ارساله الى محطة ولكن يعطل زورقه هناك ويبدا بالاصلاح ومشاهدة المأساة للرجال السود.... والمدير وعمه وهو "رئيس العصابة المسلحة" التي تنهب وتقتل وذلك
الانيق موظف الاجر الذي كان يتمنى ان يصبح نائب
المدير وهنا "مارلو" يسمع الكثير عن (كرتز) الذي هو
من اهم مجمعي العاج في الغابة ويصبح متشوقا جدا للقاء هذا الشخص المهم والتعرف عليه..... بعد ان قام بأصلاح الزورق غادر مع المدير واربع رحالة مع30 من السود وهنا يتعرض للصراع مع اناس سود يحالون منعهم من الوصول الى (كرتز)هنا

يفكر مارلو ان (كرتز) قد مات ولن يتمكن من لقائه ابدا وخلال الصراع مع هؤلاء المتوحشين يقتل ذلك الاسود الذي كان يساعد مارلو في دفه القياة فيشعر بالخوف والحزن مع وجود30 اسود من اكلي لحوم البشر الذين ياكلون لحم فرس نهري نتن ......وبعد ان يلاحظ وجود محطة مهجورة يحمل منها الخشب والعاج الذي نصفه فد تعرض للتلف ويواصل الرحلة الى (كرتز)
وهنا يلاحظ وجود
الناس السود في الغابة و رجل ثيابه مرقعة كانه مهرج
..........
انه روسي وبعد ان يروي الروسي قصته ويتمكن الراحالة من حمل (كرتز) الى الزورق مع سماع الناس السود ومشاهدة رؤوس البشر المعلقةعلى الاعمدة التي القبيلة السود يتخذونه من "كرتز" الة لهم فيعرف "مارلو" بقسوة (كرتز) وطريق
عيشه وتفكيره كما لا ننسا تلك المرأة التي لم تخاف من صوت الصافرة البخارية ظلت تتضرع لعودة "كرتز" وبعدما يحاول (كرتز) الهرب من الزورق ويلحق

به (مارلو) ويعيده وبعدما يعطيه مجموعة من الرسائل

وصوره ............واخر كلمات كرتز كانت (الرعب

–الرعب) بعد موت (كرتز) ودفنه وعودة (مارلو) الى

المدينة لا يستطيع العيش مع الناس وياخذ (كرتز) كل

تفكيرة وبعد ان يأتي موظف من الشركة يهددوه انه يجب

ان يعطيه ما يحمله من اشياء تخص كرتز وبعدما ياتي ان عمه يقول ان (كرتز) كان له

موهبة في الموسيقا وبعدما ياتي صحفي ويسال فيعطيه

شياء ثم يخطط للذهاب الى خطيبة (كرتز) يعطها الرسائل

والصورة ....خطيبته تكون في حال حداد رغم ان موت كرتز مضى عليه سنة ...فهي كانت متعلقة جدا به ...وفي النهاية يكذب عليها ويقول لها ان اخر شيئ لفظه(كرتز) هو اسمها ؟؟؟؟؟؟؟ بالرغم من ان اخر كلماته كانت
" الرعب الرعب"
