[hello every body i am a new member and i want to know your opinion about my translation of nizar kabbani poem wishing that you will love it
-1- Good morning sweetheart… Good morning my beautiful Saint. Two years have passed mother Since the boy has sailed His mythical journey, Has hidden in his luggage The green morning of his country, M1its stars, rivers and its all red poppy, 3And He has hidden in his clothes Branches of mint and thyme And a damascene lilac.
I am alone… The smoke of my cigarettes is bored My seat is also bored And my sorrows are like flocks of birds Which are still looking for a grain field. I became acquainted with the women of Europe, With their wooden and cement feelings, With the civilization of weariness, I wandered around India, around China, And all around the oriental world. But I did not find A woman to brush my blond hair, Who brings me sugar sandwiches in her purse, Clothes me when I am naked And lifts me up if I fall. Mother… Mother… I am that boy who sailed And the sugar sandwich still lives in his mind How … how Mother I become a father… But I never grow up[/align]?
Good morning from Madrid How is the “fulla”? I beg you Mother to take care of her… Take care of that small girl For she was my father’s most loved one… He used to spoil her as his daughter, Invite her to drink coffee from his cup, Feed and water her, And cover her by his mercy…
And my father died She is still dreaming about his return, Looking for him in all around his room, Asking about his cloak, Asking about his newspaper, And – when summer returns-she asks About his blue eyes. To throw within his palms… Her golden coins…
I send my best regards… To a house that raised us upon love and mercy To your white flowers… the best in” Alnijma square” To my bed… To my books… To the children of our neighborhood… And to the walls which we covered… By the mess of our writings… To the lazy cats… Sleeping on our balconies… To the lilac bush which climbs the window of our neighbor… Mother: two year years has passed Since the face of Damascus being like a bird Digging within our conscience, Biting at our curtains,
And picking, with a gentle beak, at our fingers.
Two years have passed Mother And the Damascene night,
The Damascene ful, And the Damascene houses Still live within our memories
And the pillar lights of her mosques, Have been guiding our sails. As if the pillars of AL-Amawi, have been planted in our hearts.
As if the apple orchards are still perfuming our conscience.
As if the lights and the rocks,
have all traveled with us.
September comes Mother And sorrow comes bringing me his gifts, Leaving his tears and concerns by my window
September comes Mother, where is Damascus? Where is my father? Where are his eyes? Where is his silky glance? Where is the fragrance of his coffee? May god bless his grave. And where is the vastness of our large house,
and where is its comfort?
And where is the stairwell laughing at the tickles of blooms?
and where is my childhood? Draggling the tail of the cat, and eating from the grape vine, and snipping from the lilac.
Damascus, Damascus, A poem… We wrote upon our eyes And a pretty child, We crucified by our braid, Kneeled at his feet, And melted in his passion, Until, we killed him by our love]
