Review of, The Kiss of Babylon Vol.1

This fictional tale by author (SHEBA) follows the travails of Frank as he seeks a romance during his trip to Damascus. In the prologue, the readers learn that he has completed his studies at the university and is traveling by train. The purpose of his trip is to rekindle his relationship with Rosa, a girl to whom he was introduced by his cousin. Yet the last time he saw her was nine months ago and he has become obsessed with her.

His thoughts of Rosa are interrupted by the presence of another beautiful woman on the train. Frank tries to engage her in conversation, but she is hesitant to speak to him about her travel plans or personal business. She eventually decides to trust him and tell him her name _ one which she calls "unspeakable" _and so she is renamed Ice Queen. Shortly thereafter she confides in him that her father is in grave danger and needs help; Frank decides to help her out in this situation.

The complex narrative involves characters that come in and out of the work. By the ending, the readers are left to wonder if the events actually occurred or are just a figment of Franks' imagination
(Sheba's) work "The kiss of Babylon" is an interesting tale of love and romance set against the exotic backdrop of the Middle East.[/englishtext]
