This is my first topic in this form and I really hope that it'll satisfy you


Let's begin




Prefixes

A prefix is a group of letters at the beginning of a word which changes the words meaning. Here is a list of the most common prefixes and examples of how those prefixes are used

البادئات (prefixes) هي مجموعة من الأحرف تتقدم الكلمة فتغير معناها . فيما يلي أكثر البادئات الشائعة مع مثال لكل بادئة يوضح كيفية استعمالها.


[Anti- opposed or against (anti-virus
عندما تضاف لاول الكلمة تصبح الكلمة الجديدة مضادة للاولى مثلantivirus وvirus

[Auto- operating without being controlled by human (automobile = car]
تستخدم لوصف شيء آلي –لا يحتاج لتشغيل بواسطة الانسان- مثل الطيار الآلي autopilot

[Bi- two (bilingual = speaking two language]
عندما تضاف لاول الكلمة تصبح الكلمة الجديدة مضاعفا للاولى

Cent- hundred (centimeter
عند استخدامها تصبح الكلمة الجديدة تعني الكلمة الاولى مضروبة في مئة

Co-with or together (co-worker
عند اضافتها للكلمة تصبح الجديدة مرافقة للاولى

Counter- opposing as a reaction (counter-attack
تستخدم لوصف المرتدات (ردود الافعال)

Dis- not (dishonest
تستخدم للنفي

E- Electronic (e-mail
للاشياء التي تتعلق بالالكترونيات و خاصة الانترنت

Ex- from before (ex-wife
عند اضافتها تعني ان الشيء حدث في السابق و لم يعد كذلك الان

Hyper- too much (hyperactive
عند اضافتها تعني ان الشيء المبالغ فيه (الاكثر من اللازم)


In-,il-,im-,ir- not ( incorrect-illegal-impossible-irregular
للنفي ( و تاتي حسب الحرف الاول من الكلمة فـ in تاتي في بداية الكلمات التي اولها الحرف n و هكذا)

Kilo- thousand (kilogram
للاشياء المضاعفة الف مرة

Mega- one million (megabyte
للاشياء المضاعفة مليون مرة

Micro- very small (microscopic
للاشياء الصغيرة جدا التي لا ترى بالعين المجردة

Mid- in the middle ( mid-afternoon
تستخدم لشيء يقع في المتتصف

Mini- small (minibus
لشيء مصغر من نسخة اكبر حجما


Mis- badly (misunderstood
عند اضافتها تعني ان الشيء تم التعامل معه بشكل خاطئ


Mono- one (monologue
للاشياء التي تكون بشكل انفرادي

Multi- many (multimedia
للاشياء التي تكون بشكل متعدد

Non- not (non-smoker
للنفي

Over-too much(overpopulated
كثير جدا غالبا بشكل غير متوقع او لايمكن التعامل معه

Photo- connected with light ( photosynthesis
للاشياء اللتي تتعلق بالضوء (photosynthesis تعني البناء الضوئي )

Post- after (postgraduate
بعد

Pre- before (preschool
قبل

Psycho- of the mind(psychology
لما يتعلق بالعقل

Re- again (rewrite
تفيد اعادة الشيء

Semi- half (semicircle
نصف مثل نصف الدائرة

Sub-under (sub-zero
ادنى او اقل

Super- extremely (super-rich
كثير وفوق المعقول

Tele- over a long distance (television
لوصف شيء ينتقل من مسافات بعيدة

Tri- three (triangle
للدلالة على ان الشيء مكون من ثلاثة اجزاء

Un- the opposite (unhappy
للعكس

I want also to write here the difference between suffixes and prefixes

The prefix and suffix morphemes are bound morphemes because they can't occur unattached
Prefixes are bound morphemes that occur only before other morphemes such as justayman's examples

Suffixes are bound morphemes that occur after other morphemes such as : -er ( worker , singer ) , -ist ( typist , novelist ) , -ly ( sickly , friendly )
