Dear Arteenies,
As you know, there are four basic language skills which are reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
In this topic, we're going to focus on listening and practise our listening skill and learn more about what to say in certain situations that we may face in practical life.
Each time I'll add one voice clip then you've to try to write down what you hear. After picking up the best reply, I'll add some notes or explanation for some structures where is necessary.
I'll do my best to make the size of the clips as small as possible in order to make things easier for you.
I collected the clips from different sources such as the BBC courses and other ones. Most of the clips are in British English. I'll try to add some American ones as well.
Now are you ready for the challenge?! We'll see!!
Here is the first clip :The first clip
Duration: 00:01:55
Size: 438 KB
Who's brave enough to write what s/he hears correctly without any gap?!!
1, 2, 3, or 4 gaps are ok
With my best wishes
Abeer

First clip // Part I was done correctly by Wissamo
MR. Hardcastel : Well now, I wounder if there is anything special you would like to do
Barbara : No , It's bliss just relaxing in like this, and the sun's actually shinnig.
MR. Hardcastel : Tomorrow we'll be going to the village fair, I hope you come. Later on , I thought we might drive down to the sea, but this morning we can laze around if you like.
Harry : Yes. This time ,next week, we'll probably be rushing round London again trying to intrest people in inflatable umbrellas, so we'd better get all the leisure we can.
MR. Hardcastel : How long will you actually be staying?
Harry: Oh I don't think we can stay more than 3 or 4 days.
MR. Hardcastel : Is that all?
Harry : well, you know the old spanish proverb : " The fish and the guest both smell after three days."

First clip //Part II
MR. Hardcastel : Oh , nonsense! I do hope you'll stay a little longer. Before you go , I want to put you in touch with a friend who can certainly help you with your inflatable umbrella.
MRS. Hardcastel : He's away at present isn't he ,darilng?
MR. Hardcastel : Yes , but as soon as he comes back I'll give him a ring
Harry : I'd love to see him when he arrives. Thank you .
Barbara : But please darling don't start building castles in the air until you know he can do something . Otherwise you'll be disappointed again.
Harry : Oh , I won't feel disappointed this time. Now that I've got my inflatable umbrella with me , I feel completely confident.

Part III
Barbara : Yes, but ___
Harry : I'm so sure now that my invention is sensible and useful that I just feel anyone who doesn't accept it is old -fashioned. Why, when one thinks of these absurd umbrellas that people still use, which have to pushed up and down, which get in the way, which leave puddles on the floor!
Barbara : Oh, Harry, you're beginning to sound like a politician!
MR. Hardcastel : No __ I think he's quite right. In the crowded city our traditional umbrellas really are clumsy and ridiculous .And to think that abroad they're supposed to be one of the symbols of life in England!
Harry : Well said, my friend! You're my first English convert. I shall reward you in time with a beautiful silk umbrella, inflatable and printed with your name.
