The rise of the novel. [align=left]The English Novel started immediately at the end the Puritanism age in the 18th century. The most important and great novelists are Daniel Defoe Mall Flanders, Henry Fielding Joseph Andrews and Richardson Pamela. They try to preface their works and they have rather a long preface. Their purpose is to prepare their readers and to persuade them that what they are writing is real. John Bunyan prefaces his work The Pilgrim’s progress. They gave real names and dates to make the story real. Fielding’s Joseph Andrews is a kind of parody “an imitative use of language, ideas and style in order to make fun of that person or something[/align] |
