I am wondering what is the difference between "the milk and beer" and "the milk and the beer" to native speakers.
1 .The milk and the beer __ 10 dollars.

2. The milk and beer ____ 10 dollars.

Could you clarify it?

Well, it is really a nice question ! Honestly, I don`t know but I guess that the first sentence means that the cost of each one of them is 10 dollars, while the second sentence means that a glass of milk with some beer costs 10 dollars.
