Onset: The initial consonants preceding the peak(the vowel)
Coda: The final consonants following the peak(the vowel)
علما أن:
Syllable= Onset + Rhyme ( Peak+Coda)
النقطة الثانية:
Stressed syllable: it is a strong syllable that the speake uses more muscular energy in its production
Unstressed syllable: it is a weak syllable that do not require a strong muscular energy in its production
الفرق بينهما:
Stressed syllables are more prominent than unstressed ones
النقطة الثالثة:
Suffix: a form that is added to the end of a stem
Prefix: a form that is added to the beginning of a stem
Stem: the stem of a word is its basic form
The difference: the prefix changes the meaning of the word while the suffix changes its part of speech only
