كان هناك كم كبير من النتائج الغير مباشرة لاعتناقي الإسلام و شروعي بارتداء وشاح الرأس, كان كل ما عملت هو تغطية رأسي وشعري فأصبحت فوراً مواطنة من الدرجة الثانية. كانت سيارات الأجرة لا تتوقف أثناء المرور بقربي رغم أنها كانت شاغرة. وذات مرة توقفت سيارة أجرة بقربي لا نزال راكب فرماني السائق بنظرة عدائية حالما طرقت على نافذته وما لبث أن غادر, فيما قال لي سائق آخر " لا تتركي قنبلة في المقعد الخلفي!" وٍسألني : "أين يختبأ بن لادن؟!"

Nonsense. If this is the case, then why are cellphones, landlines, e-mail, text messaging and fax machines in daily use? And no one switches off the radio because they can't see the presenter's face.[/align]
لا أعرف هل كان يجب أن أصرخ أم أضحك من انضمام الوزير الإيطالي برودي للجدل المثار الأسبوع الماضي بإعلانه أن عدم ارتداء النقاب هو أمر طبيعي لأنه (النقاب) يُصعب العلاقات الاجتماعية". هراء! لو كان الأمر كذلك فلماذا تستخدم إذن الهواتف الخلوية والأرضية والرسائل الالكترونية وأجهزة الفاكس ولا يتم إغلاقها لأنها لا تٌظهر وجه المقدم؟!
[align=left]Under Islam, I am respected. It tells me that I have a right to an education and that it is my duty to seek out knowledge, regardless of whether I am single or married. Nowhere in the framework of Islam are we told that women must wash, clean or cook for men. As for how Muslim men are allowed to beat their wives -- it's simply not true. Critics of Islam will quote random Koranic verses or hadith, but usually out of context. If a man does raise a finger against his wife, he is not allowed to leave a mark on her body, which is the Koran's way of saying, "Don't beat your wife,."[/align]
أنا أتمتع بالاحترام في ظل الدين الإسلامي وهو يعلن أن لي الحق في التعليم وأنه من الواجب علي طلب العلم بغض النظر عن كوني عزباء أو متزوجة ولا يمكن أن تجد أي شيء في الدين الإسلامي يشير إلى أن واجب المرأة هو الغسيل والتنظيف أو تحضير الطعام للرجال, وببساطة ليس صحيحاً أن الرجال لديهم الحق بضرب زوجاتهم فعادة ما يخرج بعض النقاد للإسلام عن السياق عند استشهادهم ببعض بآيات من القرآن الكريم أو من الحديث الشريف. يشترط على أي رجل يضرب زوجته أن لا يترك أثراً على جسمها وكأن القرآن الكريم يريد أن يقول :" لا تضرب زوجتك.."

[align=left]Violent men don't come from any particular religious or cultural category; one in three women around the world has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused in her lifetime, according to the hotline survey. This is a global problem that transcends religion, wealth, class, race and culture.[/align]
لا ينتمي الرجال العنيفون لدين أو لشريحة اجتماعية معينة فحسب الدراسة السابقة واحدة من أصل 3 نساء تضرب أو تجبر لإقامة علاقة أو تُستغل في حياتها, وهذه مشكلة عالمية تتخطى حدود الدين والثروة والطبقة والعرق و الثقافة.
[align=left]But it is also true that in the West, men still believe that they are superior to women, despite protests to the contrary. They still receive better pay for equal work and women are still treated as sexualized commodities whose power and influence flow directly from their appearance.[/align]
ومن الصحيح أيضاً أن الرجال في الغرب لا يزالوا يؤمنون بتفوقهم على النساء فهم على الرغم من الادعاءات المخالفة لهذا فالرجال لا يزالوا يتلقوا أجوراً أعلى لنفس العمل فيما لا تزال النساء يعاملن كسلع محرفة تستمد قدرتها وتأثيرها من مظهرها الخارجي بشكل مباشر.
[align=left]And for those who are still trying to claim that Islam oppresses women, recall this 1992 statement from the Rev. Pat Robertson, offering his views on empowered women: Feminism is a "socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism and become lesbians."[/align]
وبالنسبة للذين مازالوا يحاولون الادعاء بأن الإسلام اضطهد النساء أستعيد تصريح الكاهن بات روبرتسون الذي قدم آراءه فيما يتعلق بالنساء المتمتعات بحرية الإرادة بقوله: " أن مذهب المساواة بين الجنسين هو حركة سياسية معادية للأسرة تحث النساء على ترك أزواجهن وقتل أطفالهن وممارسة الشعوذة وتدمير الرأسمالية ليصبحن منحرفات"
