[english]I'll put the first comment to show you how to do this ;) William Shakespeare is a great English poet, dramatist, and playwright. Borne in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564 and died in 1616. He wrote 37 plays. Some are tragedies, comedies, historical, and serious comedies at the end of his life. He could in a magnificent way combine tragedies with comedies. Shakespeare also wrote about 154 sonnets that are poems of love and loss, and loneliness and change. These sonnets were addressed to the young fair man Mr. W.H. and to the "dark lady". That's all till now…waiting to read your comments friends[/english][/font] |

Yara, Thanks for the nice topic Unfortunately, I dislike the personality of Shakespeare ![]() It's because of the huge fans that made him nearly a legend In fact , I'm 100% convinced that his fame is because that in his time there was a very small number of writers , so the one who works more is the one who will be famous more and that was him Maybe I'm wrong , but I really don't find that huge number of great ideal works … they are too rare and the writers at this time are exaggerating in the greatness of his works ![]() |

Yara, Great Yoyo ![]() can I say something??can we not talk about Shakespeare but discuss what we like in him & what we dislike ![]() If you like it then we discuss Shakespeare ![]() اقتباس:
good topic Yara, but what about Shakespeare???? sorry i don't want to take you down but we've got bored from Shakespeare
you may get bored of him but we cannot ignore that he is a great writer in the English point of view & we study English so we have to like him ![]() As for me ,to some extent,I like him....Certain lines in his works became proverbs...and we have to remember that he was not educated...So, I think that he made an accomplishment...some of his works are great just like Hamlet but some of them are...toooooooooooooo silly just like As You Like It I feel interested when we study one of his nice works ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yara, Thanx for ur brilliant idea ![]() In addition to what you mentioned above ![]() Shakespeare's plays are divided into 4 periods : 1st period : 1590- 1595 . It was a period of learning and experiementation . Romeo and Juliet 2nd period : from 1596 to the turn of the century , he focused on chronical plays and comedies . The Merchant of Venice 3rd period : 1600 - 1608 He wrote his great tragedies . Hamlet , King Lear , Othello 4th period 1609 - 1612 . The Tempest Shakespeare's ability to engage the audience's attention has remained great to the present day |

Yara, Thanks dear Yara for this topic... ![]() As for me, I like to read Shakespeare's works beacause he is not educated so his works will be different from the others some how... But I do not prefer any writer to another because I care about the work more than the writer... Any way,I will participate in this topic soon because it is nice to know some information about the writers... ![]() |

فارس, of course everyone has his own point of view and i do respect al of these opinions, but let's think of Shakespeare's importance i like him not for his personality, but for his great achievements first of all he was not educated as Tami and Raghad said second, we know that he used a poetic language using puns...and we know how difficult to do that third , the plots of his plays are so hard to make and easy to understand forth, if we compare him to any other writer of that period like Marlowe, we'll find a huge difference in the themes, the language, and the plots i really like to read for Shakespeare ![]() |

Shakespeare might be the most well known author in the world!!! this is right!! :wink but the language and the expressions he used are not in use that much today, so reading for him might be disgusting in some moments.. studying his plays was like a punishment for some students..while on the other hand reading for any modern author could be a joy.. cheers ![]() ![]() ![]() |
