Kafr Qasim
Have you heard of the heroic battle,
And the massacring of innocents like cattle?
"A People's Epic," 'tis called
That is what we are told.
The harvesting of skulls,
The slaughtering of seagulls,
The Massacre of Kafr Qasim,
Horrendous, inhuman and dim.
A massacre that frightened all,
And made the hearts in the boots fall.
A story passed over from Amr to Zeid,
"Nightmarish," as it is said.
It was a very long and dreadful night
That froze our dreamy eyes, filled them with fright.
Cries for help, in our ears, are ringing
Of maidens' screaming, crying not singing,
Of pregnant women's bewailing,
That was heard far and near,
Of the being-slaughtered (young) men, O dear!
The men whose unprotected bodies and mighty hands resist
The showering reckless bullets aimed at the chest.
A cry is spreading in the nation,
Like a volcano of anger, bitter vengeance and condemnation.
A cry (bewailing) that roars like thunder,
And tears the hearts asunder.
A bewailing that makes all moan,
And wears away (shatters) the hardest stone.
A cry that assaults like fate,
And puts all humans in a dreadful state.
A cry whose echo, everywhere, chimes
Like a ringing myth of ancient times.
Alas! It is not a myth,
But a true tale that takes away the breath,
This is the legend of Kafr Qasim,
So, hear it, if you aren't deaf.
