ابطلت الحكومة البرازيلية تأشيرة كانت قد اصدرتها لصحفي امريكي بعد ادعائه ان الرئيس لولا سكير. وقد اغضب هذا الادعاء السلطات البرازيلية التي نفته بشكل قاطع. تقرير ستيف كينجستون

 
If the New York Times was in any doubt as to what the Brazilian government thought of its article, the official statement offers clarification. "In the light of this frivolous untrue report which offends the honor of the president," it says, "we are canceling the visa of William Larry Rohter junior."
In the piece published on Sunday, Mr Rohter suggested that Brazilians were worried about the drinking habits of President Enacio Lula da Silva. He was pictured raising a glass at a beer festival. The allegation has been strongly denied by the Brazilian government and politicians of all parties have united in the criticism of the New York Times

This merger brings together some of the biggest artists in the world, from Britney Spears to Bruce Springsteen. The new company, to be called Sony BMG, will have roughly a quarter of global sales and will rival Universal Music for the number one spot.
The EU's authorities had originally raised concerns about the deal, fearing the concentration of power would hit consumers in their pockets. But granting approval, the European Commission said it did not have strong enough evidence to oppose it. That's a view not shared by many independent record companies who have warned the deal will make life much tougher for them.
The music industry has been rocked by four years of falling worldwide sales and the rise of online music and piracy. This merger will allow Sony BMG to make hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of cost savings. Up to a quarter of staff are expected to lose their jobs.

This is the latest in a string of high profile stunts by activist fathers demanding more access to their children. But it could cause the biggest stir yet. The man, named as Jason Hatch, managed to evade Palace security and climb onto a ledge next to the main balcony, where the Royal Family greet the crowds on special occasions. Dressed as the Caped Crusader, he unfurled a large banner which said Super Dads of Fathers For Justice, and waved at passers-by. Another campaigner, David Pyke, who was dressed as Batman's sidekick Robin, said he and Mr Hatch managed to get over the palace railings while other members of the group scaled the front gate to distract armed police. They then used an extendable ladder to climb the building itself.
However, Mr Pyke said he was not arrested immediately and was able to climb back out of the compound. The police threw a cordon around the entire area - and brought in a cherry picking crane, which after lengthy negotiations was used to bring Mr Hatch down. The incident, which was broadcast live on television, is hugely embarrassing for Palace security - at a time of heightened concern over the threat of terrorism. No members of the Royal Family were at the Palace, but it's likely the Queen will not be amused.
