Peace be upon you...... Dog's life: He leads a dog's life/He’s tired of living a dog's life. If some has a dog's life, they have a very unfortunate and wretched life. In other words it means that life is hard and unpleasant knock somebody dead: You look fabulous—you'll knock 'em dead tonight To impress somebody very much. Knock/throw somebody for a loop American English to shock or surprise somebody I’m gonna knock him for a loop /The result of the election knocked most people for a loop. On your last legs | on its last legs I just finished paying for the car and it’s on its last legs If you say you're on your last legs, it can mean you're close to exhaustion, or it can mean you're close to death. If a thing is on its last legs, it's close to breaking or wearing out. :arrow: To be quick on the uptake The opposite is "slow on the uptake" If you are quick on the uptake, you're smart and you can understand things quickly./quick to understand or learn something, Mary understands jokes before anyone else because she's so quick on the uptake I 've put some idioms that I 've just recently came across in order to refresh the thread Safwat's world of Idioms |
