مادة مقال 2
قام الدكتور الياس بإعطاء ما يلي :
قرأ ال preface ثم إنتقل إلى objectives وبعد ذلك بدأ بالوحدة الأولى ( Comparison & Comtrast )
وقام بقراءة الصفحات من 9 إلى 12 مع قليل من الشرح لبعض الفقرات في الكتاب
وأملى علينا الملاحظة التالية :
( in a comparison essay the writer sees the similarities between people and places , but in a contrast essay ,the writer mentions the differences between people or things .this is the differences between comparising essay and contrast essay )
وقام بإعطاءنا موضوعين لكتابتهما للأسبوع القادم وهما : compare between two cities / compare between mobile and telephone

أعطى الدكتور في هذه المحاضرة unit 2 و قام بقراءة الصفحات 29 + 30 (...blood transfusion )
و أملى علينا التعريف التالي :
.A cause and effect essay : is one which presents the cause of a certain problem and then proceeds to explore its consequences.
At first you need to highlight the issue which you seek to examin in its paragraph , you have to present the problem very clearly , then you move to investigate into its causes.Having done so , you have got to discuss its consequences , in the conclusion you need to sum up your view regarding this problem.
وبعد ذلك أعطى الدكتور عدة مواضيع لكتابتها وهي :
* write a cause and effect essay on our student weakness in english
*write a cause and effect essay on jobless young people
وهناك أيضا بعض المواضيع الموجودة في الصفحات : 45-46-47

أعطى الدكتور إلياس ال unit 3 و قرأ الصفحة 61 و أملى علينا ما يلي :
In an analysis essay , an essue or a problem is divided into its main parts .This division is conducted in order to simplyfy the issue so that it can be understood easily .
An example will illustrate this . If you are writing about the process of learning english , for example , you have to state clearly that learning a language is the outcome of continous work and reasoned effort. Inthe introduction you have to say that learning english requires much attention and continual work .then, you need to state how learning english can be effected.
Here you must write seperate paragraphs on the activitiesthat help students to talk about the skill of reading which is an important factor in learning any language. After reading a passage you need to answer the questions bellow and give a brief summary of that passage . The other paragraphs should deal with the other language skills : listining , speaking, and writing . The concluding paragraph should sum up the main points you discussed ...
و في آ خر المحاضرة طلب منا كتابة أحد المواضيع :
* About learning english
* The precess of learning to play any sport or musical instrument
* How to analyise a literary text

unit 4 و كتبنا التعريف التالي :
An essay developed by definition requires much clarify especially with regard to the terms used therein
If ,for example , the term ( literature) is to be discussed, it has to be defined in a clear way so that the reader would immediately understand its meaning and implication.and of course a new sentence
The writer should be consistant in the sense that he/she should use the same definition all along .In consistency is a major weakness in writing because it easily creates misunderstanding and confusion .

وبعد ذلك طلب موضوع عن ال (poetry )
