Ok , this is one of my favorite words. I'd like to add it here. I 'll post here some of its meanings , not all, though they may seem a lot. faithful /adjective 1-faithful (to sb/sth) staying with or supporting a particular person, organization or belief SYN loyal: a faithful servant / friend / dog . He remained faithful to the ideals of the party. She was rewarded for her 40 years' faithful service with the company. I have been a faithful reader of your newspaper for many years. 2-the faithful noun [pl.] people who believe in a religion; the loyal supporters of a political party: The president will keep the support of the party faithful. 3-faithful (to sth) true and accurate; not changing anything: a faithful copy / account / description His translation manages to be faithful to the spirit of the original. 4-[only before noun] able to be trusted; that you can rely on: my faithful old car |
