Obada Arwany,

Quote:
''It is due to some faults of ourselves, I must work harder''

Important words in deed

In addition to what you said Obada let me add sth . Whenever we do things , we try to make a change and we fail , we shouldn't dispair ; we have to consider these faults or this failure an incentive to work harder , to not lose the hope till we success and make our dreams come true  *1

Today I have a translated saying for our prophet Muhammed ( peace of Allah be upon him ) :

" Live rough for luxuries can not be lasting "

That means we may face a day on which we find our pockets empty and with no means of luxury so we have to  accustom ourselves to live a rough life or at least to be ready for this, because nothing is eternal . Getting used to a rough life would enable us to face sudden , difficult circumstances.

Great Tayma' , It is nice to quote from our great prophet, Muhammad. God Bless You ! *1

Quote:
" No man is an island , entire to itself "

Oh, John Donne, I love this poet sooooooo much. In my opinion, he is as great as Shakespeare. Donne Wrote the Holy Sonnets, I think that I will quote from them, but not now. Donne also wrote one of the best poems in whole English Literature, It is "A Valedication: Forbidding Morning". It is very very nice, I also will quote from it later.
Quote:
and also your new signature Ala' , it's splendid !

I am wondering right now, who is splendid, My quote or Tayma' ?
But I will change it   I like to change my signatures from time to time. Your new signature is also very nice and meaningful. Thanx Tayma' *1

Obada Arwany,
Now Mr. Obada, I am happy to see you here.

Nice, very nice; I decided to read this novella very soon, God Willing.
Thank You Mr. Obada, and keep participating with us. By the way,

  It is the first time I see my name written in this way

Ok, because I am speaking about my name, here is a quote by the poet Nizar Qabbani, about names  The poem is titled "A Letter From A Stupid Woman: A Letter to a Man", The woman says:

My dear Master,
This is a letter from a stupid woman
Has a stupid woman before me, written to you?
My name? Lets put names aside
Rania, or Zaynab
or Hind or Hayfa
The silliest things we carry, my Master - are names.

It is I, Ala' *1

Frankly , I didn't read any of his works  :|  I just read some quotations from them .. so I'm really waiting what you will quote and also ( if you don't mind ) I'd like to know more about this poet .  :)

Do you know what ? when I read these lines I translated them into Arabic and the result is SO nice poetry in deed !
But there's a question , did you translate them by yourself ?

Now , let me post another quotation from the great drama " ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA "  by William Shakespear .

The speaker is the second main character Cleopatra :

" Be it known that we , the greatest , are misthought for things that others do , and , when we fall , we answer other's merits in our name , are therefore to be pitied . "

Ok, I will post some quotes from Donne when I finish my Exams. Thank you Tayma'  *1

Of course I did NOT translate them by myself,  In fact, I hate translation so much, and it is my enemy. My marks in this subject are always low     I also hate the doctors who teach this subject

Your Quote is nice. Thanx again and again. Now it is my turn; but what should I quote *ممم  *ممم
ok   I'll quote from Sophocles, from King Oedipus. I love this tragedy soooooo much. My quote is said by the Chorus:
All the generations of mortal man add up to nothing ! Show me the man whose happiness was anything more than illusion, followed by disillusion. Here is the instance, here is Oedipus, here is the reason why I will call no mortal creature happy.

Sorry for being absent from this important topic. Well, I'll add this quotation. Actually,it  was my singture. I think that it is very true

We must be silent before we can listen
We must listen before we can learn
We must learn before we can prepare
We must prepare before we can serve
We must serve before we can lead

عبير,

I was kidding about hating translation. And I am going to write some quotes about translation:

Il n'existe pas d'ouvrage d'ensemble consacré à la tradution. Edmond Cary

To translate poetry into prose [ . . . ] is to betray the poem. Millay

A translator must bring sympathy and understanding to the work he is to translate. He most be the original author's most intimate, most exact, in short, his best reader. But he must do more than read. He must attempt to see what the author saw, to hear what he heard, to dig into his own life in order to experience anew what the author experienced. ( Horst Frenz )

Thank You Miss Ruba soooo much for this nice sentence. In fact I remember this sentence very well. It is one of the most important sentences in the novel. I Like this novel to the degree that I memorize some lines from it. When I was first year, I read this novel 4 times    , and at last my marks in this subject were 48+2

Here is another sentence by Bennett, commenting on Anna;

"Fools and children should never see anything till it's done."

Yeah , they almost misunderstand it

Ok another quotation from " ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA "
It's said by : Lepidus .

" Noble friends , that wich combined us was most great , and LET NOT a leaner action rend us . What's a miss , may it be gently heard. When we debate our trivial difference loud , we do commit murder in healing wounds. Then, noble partners , the rather for I earnestly beseech , touch you the sourest points with sweetest terms . nor curstness grow to th'matter . "

And let me present it to noble friends in art-en .
