That's why I do think it's an american term..

a white lie

MEANING: a harmless lie (told to be polite or to do something not seriously wrong)

EXAMPLE:

I told my boss a white lie and said that I was sick yesterday when actually I wasn’t.

It seems that I should listen to the English songs to be up to date with idioms :mrgreen:

The idiom of today is:
Yellow Pages: a book with yellow pages that gives a list of companies and organizations and their telephone numbers, according to the type of services they offer

A very good example here is the "yellow pages" directory which was published for the middle and the other regions in Syria, and for sure it is free :mrgreen:

This idiom "Yellow pages" reminded me of "The yellow books" which you've talked about in other topic in the translation section, but here ,as we see, in English they use "yellow pages" to refer to sth else

Red- handed: means in the very act.

When police catch a criminal in the stage of his\her crime, the say that we caught him\her red-handed with crime. In other words, he\she is guilty.
