مبادئ الصحّة العقلية

Psychologists have identified a number of distinct dimensions of mental health.
قام علماء النفس بتحديد عددٍ من الأبعاد البارزة للصحّة العقلية .
These include self-acceptance, or self-esteem, characterized by a positive evaluation of oneself and one’s past experiences; personal growth reflected in one’s sense of continued psychological growth and development; a sense that one’s life has purpose and meaning; positive relations with others; environmental mastery, the capacity to manage effectively in the surrounding world; and autonomy, a sense of self-determination and the ability to control one’s own life.
تتضمن هذه الأبعاد التقبّل الذاتي أو احترام الذات و الذي يتم تميزه بالتقدير الايجابي للمرء أو لتجاربه السابقة ، و النمو الشخصي المنعكس في اتجاه المرء بالنمو النفسي المستمر و التطوّر , و الاتجاه يعني أنّ لحياة الفرد  هدف و معنى ،و العلاقات الايجابية مع الآخرين  و البراعة  البيئية ، و القدرة على الإدارة  بشكل فعّال للعالم المحيط و الاستقلال الذاتي ، و اتجاه الإصرار الذاتي و القدرة على تحكم الفرد بحياته الخاصة .

Self-acceptance, relations with others, environmental mastery, and autonomy usually improve as a person ages and gains life experience.
يتحسن كلّ من  تقبّل الذات و العلاقات مع الآخرين و البراعة البيئية و الاستقلال  الذاتي عادةً عندما ينضج الإنسان و يكتسب خبرة في الحياة .

However, many people find that their personal growth and sense of purpose in life begin to decline in midlife.
لكن عديداً من الناس يجدون  أن النمو و اتجاه الهدف في الحياة يبدآن بالانحدار في منتصف العمر .
Some psychologists regard mental health as the ability to maintain a balance between positive and negative emotions, such as elation and sadness.
يعتبر العلماء الصحة العقلية أنها القدرة على المحافظة على الموازنة بين الانفعالات السلبية و الايجابية كالبهجة أو الحزن .
In this view, a person who displays emotional extremes in either direction is less well-adjusted.
و في وجهة النظر هذه، يعتبرُ الإنسان الذي يعرضُ الاتجاهات الانفعالية في كل اتجاه أقل احتراماً.
Other psychologists emphasize the role of one’s environment in influencing well-being. This perspective sees mental health reflected in a person’s overall happiness with various domains of life, such as social relationships, work, and community life.
يؤكد علماء نفسٍ آخرين على دور بيئة الفرد في التأثير على الحالة . و ترى وجهة النظر هذه  أن الصحّة العقلية تنعكس في شعور الفرد بالسعادة عموماً بالمجالات العدية للحياة كالعلاقات الاجتماعية و العمل و الحياة الاجتماعية .
