Raghad, you almost always hit the nail on the head: we teach as we were taught.  We really do that which is often -like Mohammad said- a teacher-centered approach.  It takes a lot of time and effort to kick this habit by the teacher in the first place and the educational institution in general.  The educational institution should/must provide up-to-date training to its employees to maximize the educational output in terms of quality.  It's a mutual responsibility not only the teacher's.  To expand my idea more, the educational institution and the teacher are just social entities in society.  Society itself should/must support the mentality of on-the-job training.  Leaving teachers on their own in the workplace without training affects the quality of educational output because experience does not mean how many years but how standard this experience is.  Some teachers have experience of 20 years but the length of the experience does not mean necessarily it is a correct one.  Unfortunately, teachers are almost always left high and dry in the workplace because in-service training requires funding which is considered by administration kind of professional luxury!

I'll visit this topic every now and then to share some ideas...

salam
