Would you please tell me if we can use these idioms in an Academic writing?  is it formal to use them?

Actually this is a nice question , since most using of English idioms are in translating movies and lyrics , I think they are not in use in the formal academic wirting , we can find them as proverps , but as slang they are in the , I am sorry , the cheap ones ...like those which have dirty words ........nothing like that to be found in the formal writing .......this is my opinion ...you can check it up using google......

Actually I 've already done some googling .Once, in a foreign forum''WordReference'' someone told me that we should never use idioms in formal writing wheras I 've read that idioms are used in all forms and styles of English as in IELTS writing but with caution
